"The Musicians" & "Domby Dom" at The Courtyard Theatre
Bare Bones Youth entry in the Herefordshire County Drama Festival

The Production
After their performance at Goodrich, the group took both of their one-act plays to The Courtyard Theatre, Hereford to perform in the Herefordshire County Drama Festival which is a preliminary round of the annual All England Drama Festival. Our ambition was to win the 'best youth production' award; always a hotly contested part of the festival. In this quest we were successful, The Musicians narrowly beating a fine youth production of 'Memory of Lizzie' by David Foxton performed by Hereford Cathedral School. Our success was compounded by winning the Janis Lewer trophy awarded jointly to our James Lester and Oliver Bartle for their wonderful performances in The Musicians. Adjudicator Scott Marshall then paid tribute to the orchestral mime in The Musicians and presented us with champagne and chocolates for the 'Champagne Moment'. Our festival cup then ran over when we were adjudged to be overall winners of the event and we were awarded the coveted David Garrick cup. In the seventy-one years of the festival this is the first time that it has been won by a youth company. The group now go forward into the Western Division final of the All England competition and will perform The Musicians at The Edge Arts Centre at Much Wenlock on 26th April.)
