Bare Bones 2006 Christmas Party
Following upon the sucess of last year's Christmas party, we were moved to organise another. This year we chose as our venue Bishopswood House which for the past two years has hosted our Youth Theatre Shakespeare summer workshop. This beautiful Victorian House offers a warmth and ambience which made a beautiful backdrop to this year's party theme - Charles Dickens. Guests were invited to dress as particular Dickensian chracters and we we dined in the presence of a Bill Sykes, a Jacob Marley, a couple of Artful Dodgers, Marley's Ghost, Miss Haversham, Sam Wellar, an Esther and numerous others. The evening's parlour games were contested with enthusiasm whilst the ongoing task for each lady, embroidering a Christmas tree sampler, produced some highly inventive and attractive results. The gentlemen's evening-long task was to surreptitiously pick the pocket handerchiefs of as many guests as possible. The winner of this competition with six handkerchiefs brought admiration and suspicion in equal measure.
