BLITHE SPIRIT
by Noel Coward
The Production
Bare Bones’ autumn production is “Blithe Spirit” by Noel Coward.
Written in just three days in 1941, Coward described the piece as 'an improbable farce'. Set in the home of author Charles Condomine, the play follows the chaotic events that occur when a spiritual medium, Madame Arcati, inadvertantly raises the spirit of Elvira, Condomine's first wife who died seven years ago. Elvira's efforts to reclain Charles from his second wife by plotting his death go tragically wrong with surprising results.
Seventy years after it's first production the play continues to amuse and delight. Indeed it is now regarded as a classic and is probably the best loved work of 'the master'.
